The SHIPWRITE program opens with the cargo deadweight table displayed. This page lists every tank (in TANKERLOAD) or hold (in BULKERLOAD). The format of the table is similar to a spreadsheet. Users may edit the weight, volume, percent load, ullage or sounding column to update the load condition. Density or stowage factors can also be adjusted. As adjustments are made, the program immediately recalculates and displays all aspects of stability and stress. The bottom line of the display, the Status Line, shows a summary of the ships condition. The status line shows totals within the group of compartments being displayed. The total line can also be used to enter values that are to apply to all the compartments. This makes it possible to empty all the compartments or to alter the density or stowage factors within all the compartments with just one entry on the total line.
The user may select one of several alternative set of units by clicking on the header line of each column.
Note that the tabs along the upper edge enable access to other groups of tanks. The program includes every tank, compartment or space within the ship in which deadweight can be carried.
The display below shows the 'Miscellaneous Tank' page of the SHIPWRITE deadweight pages. This table is sub-divided into several sections with subtotals of weight / volume for each section. The user can input a total weight / volume or change the density of all the tanks in the subsection by entering a value on the sub-total line. The display also shows how the user can view the GZ curve and the shear force and bending moment percentages whilst entering deadweight into the program.
